LinkedIn is a powerful tool for your job search, but only if you make yourself easy to find and use it correctly. The wider you can cast your net, and the more capabilities you have to offer, the better.
How are you presenting yourself and what is your positioning on your LinkedIn page?
Do you have projects posted on your LI page?
Do you have professional recommendations?
What companies are you following on LI?
What professionals doing interesting work or that you admire are you following on LI?
The power of LinkedIn comes from the leads created via your 2nd or 3rd degree connections, things that are liked or shared by your 1st degree connections. It shouldn’t surprise you that the most attractive opportunities won’t land on your doorstep and may not even be posted online. They will be filled by word of mouth or knowing someone that knows someone. This has happened to me three times.
Do you know or follow people on LI who know people at companies you want to work for?
Once you’re page is dialed in it’s time to to start your search on LinkedIn for a new job!
