Sorry to say it but no one is looking for you. They’re looking for your experience and abilities to do the work they need you to do. We have to make it easy for potential employers to find us and that requires that we put our professional work out in force.
Do you have a portfolio with your own URL? i.e. www.yournamedesign.com
Do you have have a professional email? i.e. yournamedesign@xxxx.com
Are your professional projects on Behance, Coroflot, Working Not Working,etc?
Do you have an up-to-date and robust LinkedIn page? With a custom URL?
Do you post your work on IG? on Pinterest?
If you want to be recognized as a good or great designer, what do the choices of how you present your work say about you?
You should take any opportunity to show that you are a skilled and talented designer. This includes the tools you you need to succeed such as a portfolio, resume and cover letter. If you submit anything as a word doc you’re doing yourself a disservice. Take the time and use the opportunity to showcase your creative abilities to craft visually interesting collateral.
Do you have an up-to-date PDF portfolio? Can it be emailed as an attachment?
Do you have a resume? How is your information organized? Does its design reflect you?
Do you have a cover letter? What does is say about you? Does your story relate to the positioning?
Do you have 3x references with full contact info if requested?
Have you practiced interviewing? Have you thought about the types of questions you will be asked?
